How to volunteer
WANT TO HELP OUT?WE'RE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW COMMISSIONERS TO JOIN OUR VOLUNTEER TEAM!
IWhat does a commissioner do?
-Attend at least 1 voting rep meeting, preferably both to assist the board with proposals for new rules and other changes from Association Athletic Directors.
-Must be present for final roster turn in, preferably both turn in dates to make the process more efficient.
-Once rosters are received, break teams into conferences.
-Check rosters against birth certificates that are turned in, obtain missing paperwork prior to the start of the season.
-Turn all final rosters in to the secretary as soon as possible.
-Help with schedule distrubtion days (pass out schedules, scorebooks, go over rules and expectations of your level, etc).
-Create an open line of communication with the coaches on your level for questions, concerns and problem solving.
-Know the rule book front to back, make sure all games are played by the appropriate rules.
-Track technical fouls and ejections for compliance on your level.
-Attempt to watch every team in your level at least once while covering gyms to gain knowledge of their experience level.
-Help other commissioners with covering gyms you may be near.
-During the season, help enforce rules of the gyms (Food/drinks in the gym, doors propped open, wandering the gyms, etc).
-Introduce yourself to parks rovers while covering gyms, address any of their concerns about the building and spectators.
-Keep track of your standings throughout the season. All scores are sent to the secretary via GroupMe, this is accessible by commissioners.
-Analyze standings to place teams in experience-compatible playoff brackets.
-Update tournament brackets daily and send to secretary to update the website and social media.
-Any other duties requested by the president of the league.
What we need most and will be filling is lower levels, Rookies-Bears due to the increased number of participants reqistered in the coming seasons.

-Must have a valid Chesterfield County background check (coaches card).
-Must be in good standing with Chesterfield Basketball League.
-Must be able to hold an unbiased opinion of all teams playing.
-If you are also a coach, you may not cover games on the level in which you coach (due to the privilaged information you hold).
-If you are an Athletic Director, you cannot cover games in which your association is playing.
